November 19^th ______________________________________________________LAQ Minutes

Attendance: Barbara, Lydia, Brett, Rhonda, Judy, Jodie, Ashleyhope (minutes)

Business

Barbara in charge! 

1. Christmas party at Ashleyhope’s house!!

802 Steele Street- two story yellow stucco house with short wood weiner dog fence - corner of 8^th and Steele

Ashleyhope will be making shrimp etouffee so we need sides

• Judy is making a surprise dessert

• Rhonda is going to make some crusty bread for the etouffee

• Veggie dishes would be great- anything is great and welcomed!

**We are asking everyone to bring a small white elephant wrapped gift that can be sweetly stolen 

**Please RSVP to Barbara and Ashleyhope ashleyhope1@gmail so we can plan accordingly

*Ashleyhope does have one dog and two kitties that will be stashed away- but if you have allergies we wanted you to be aware though ashleyhope will clean like crazy so all fur should be gathered and mitigated. 

How will these initiatives be part of our meetings?

Thoughts:

• First half of year-completing projects=show

• Critiques for unfinished pieces

• demos on hanging/finishing

• Book group- Book: CREATIVE QUILTS by Sandra Meech

• beyond art and design- gets to creativity

• more Angela Walters free motion quilting sessions

• free motion mandalas?- could be part of show!!

• Show and tell

• Dye Days

• July 13-15^th

• Ashleyhope/Sculpture studio at UW

• Dolly and Ashleyhope will connect to get dyes, etc. to uw studio for storage

Meeting ideas:

• January: Sewing meditation

  • What is it- how it happens

  • Everyone bring scraps and everyone close their eyes and grab randomly

  • Rules: can’t take stitches out

• Exhibition at SOK Gallery- Last weekend in August 2023, 25, 26, 27^th

  • Barbara emailed

  • Ashleyhope texted bob Moore on Saturday- will follow up but he said he will pencil us in when he got back from elk hunting

  • Need to find out $$ and details

To Do:

• Send to Ashleyhope to start a post on the blog.

Barbara has reached out to Laramie Public Art Coalition

Emailed Laura- workshop/demos by us?

We should think about being part of art activities around town

Representation at other meetings?

FYI-Lydia will live in New York City in garment district in beginning/middle of January

FIT- Fashion Institute

Anyone wanna come to visit??

Will have access to school and museum collections of buttons and lace, etc.

Dues will be $25 in 2023.

We are still able to set up zoom meetings/recording for anyone wanting that so keep communicating with us.

QUESTIONS:

• Kathleen- how many hospice quilts do we have?

• Hospice days in 2023? Mary C- days? February?

• Who has the LAQ square? Who has the square account under their name? We think it was last used at the Womens History House exhibition. Michaella? Dolly? Mary C? Ashleyhope would like to get it set up so we can use it at our August show.
